Hanging our Harps onto the Pine Tree

My culture and traditions

Next week it begins Special Art -project for my pupils and during it we are going to listen old stories about Finnish woods and its fairies, goblins etc.
After that we write our own stories.
We also paint and make trees and fairies in different ways and take photos of these too. We also try to find out in schoolnet, what other pupils in different contries have done.

My special pupils are 9-10 years old and we started with English last Autumn, so their knolidge of it is very small

Photo 1: Joonas is hanging his aiolian harp on the branch of our tree.

Photo 2: Aiolian harps with clay leaves and spells written on the birch bark:the children believe, that the spells are helping the saplings to grow.

Photo 3: Our own holy pine tree - old customes in Finland

This is how we celebrate our culture
Every year at school we listen to old Finnish stories about fairies, spirits and goblins.

We write stories and paint pictures and make things.
