A Day in the Life
"Sam Storey - Champion Boxer"

About the Interviewee:
A Day in the life of Sam Storey

Sam a well known Belfast boxer agrees to be interviewed by Norah aged 15.

Sam is a tall well built athletic figure and a snappy dresser too. At over 6 feet with a handsome fresh face, hes not what you would normally expect an ex-boxer to look like. The fact that he carries few scars is an indication of his great boxing ability in the ring.

Sams highly successful career saw him win the British title and fight for the European and World titles, coming up against formidable opposition such as Chris Eubank.

Professional boxing was a ceaseless and gruelling round of training, gym workouts and early nights.

Its a long way from the noisy action of the ring to Sams new working surroundings as owner-manager of La Salsa, Mexican Restaurant, in Belfasts fashionable University Road. One visit to such a restaurant was all that it took to convince him of what his new career should be.

For the past 18 months Sams new role means that he has continued to meet people although now-a-days its more likely to be sales reps than for example Sebastian Coe or the members of the British Olympic team. Sams no stranger to the famous, having met Pope John Paul II and Princess Anne on different occasions.

Sams biggest problems these days revolve around managing his staff, frequent car journeys to pick up odds and ends for the kitchen and an occassional awkward customer neednt worry about having to dodge Gentleman Sams left upper-cut. He loves his new job. It annoys him when instructions have to be repeated, but really Sam, I cant see you having to do that too often, I would think that most people would listen quite carefully when you are around.

Sam like everyone would like to be successful, but realises that good health is probably the most important thing in life.
