ASK A NEW QUESTION

Q: What is the SchoolNet Global Project?
A: Thousands of school children across the world are building a vast Internet treasure chest of their ideas and discoveries about their lives and the world around them, whether near or far. They take part in Curriculum Projects, which bring history and geography and other subjects alive in their local communities. They learn from their own projects and tell the world what they learn in their own words.

The project is supported by the Intuitive Media SchoolNet Global Project Team, all of whom are on hand to support Teachers and Children.
See the welcome page for more.

Q: Who can take part?
A: If you are interested in what children think about their lives, their communities and their environments, then this website is for you. Children, teachers, parents and researchers will find a huge international archive - a unique and valuable collation of anecdotal, scientific and numeric data about the daily lives of children around the world.

Anyone in the world can browse the site and see the children's work. Only project participants can contribute work to the site. To become a project participant you need to be a teacher or pupil in a SchoolNet Global registered school. (Register here)

Q: Who is behind the project?
A: SchoolNet Global is developed by Intuitive Media and supported by Ultralab. Its predecessor SchoolNet 2000 was funded by Tesco. The project was developed with the help of a Steering Group with UK government representatives. Intuitive Media, with Ultralab, provide the curriculum development, the website and graphic design, maintenance and user support.

Q: Why can't I log on?
A: Only project participants need to log on - for example teachers and children in the project schools - so that they can create pages for the SchoolNet Global gallery. You are free to explore the website and see the children's finished work.

To become a project participant you need to be a teacher or pupil in a SchoolNet Global registered school. (Register here). Then you will be sent your User ID and password that will let you log on.

Q: I have my ID and password, so why can't I log on?
A: Make sure that you are typing the password in correctly. Teachers' passwords are case-sensitive. Note that the AOL browser does not support SchooolNet Global - you need to install either Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer.

If you've lost your password, then email SchoolNet Global to get the details again. Please tell us your name, school name and address so that we can find your details.

Q: What should I be using to view the site with?
A: Whilst the site doesn't use any browser-specific design, it is tested against current versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. If you're using earlier versions of browsers, then it is possible that some of the pages will not display correctly. The AOL browser is known to pose problems.
