SchoolNet Goes Global at BETT 2003
|
Thousands came to see the IM stand at BETT 2003 at Olympia. We were overwhelmed with both the number of visitors and their enthusiasm for IM projects.
With over 600 potential new school members for SchoolNet Global we were delighted with the results of the show.
We welcomed more than 20 overseas delegates from The Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, USA, South Africa etc., all of whom want to start SchoolNet Global projects in their countries. We were also invited to set up a SchoolNet Global project in Moscow for 700 children with disabilties, and to work with European SchoolNet and the European Council for International Schools. So SchoolNet really is going Global fast.
Altogether a great start for 2003.

Pollution Stinks!!
|
In the My Enviroment project, SchoolNet Students write about their neighbourhoods - what they like and what concerns them.
It seems that most of us would like our surroundings to be cleaner, with pollution and litter being our main concerns. We would like life a little more peaceful with less traffic and noise. See our top dislikes.

Jubilant St Mary's students
|
 |
Jubilant St Mary's students Its a first! SchoolNet students from St. Mary's CE Primary School in Folkestone have won the first 1000 Pages Award for publishing over 1000 pages on the SchoolNet Global website!
This is a remarkable achievement and we asked Colette Cotton, ICT Coordinator, what her pupils had gained from the experience. Colette replied:
It was incredible how SchoolNet Global motivated the children to do their best. They were amazed at the prospect of their work going on the Internet. They were happy to redraft their work several times to get it just right and they achieved a higher standard of work than I ever expected. SchoolNet is an ideal way of pushing a school ahead in the field of ICT.
