The event that The reporting duo remembers most strongly: Music Workshop

Wissam Boustany came to Hadleigh; a one-off chance for young flautists in the region. Wissam Boustany is an international professional flautist from Lebanon.

The year 6 pupils from the two local primary schools in Hadleigh went to see him performing at St. Mary's church on 21st May. The same night, Wissam performed in a concert, with the flute choir. The flute choir, 35 flute pupils and tutors, had rehearsed the night before at the Masterclass.

Nigel Clayton, who played a Steinway piano, accompanied Wissam. This was Nigel`s 100th concert, a night to be remembered.

Wissam founded the charity, "Towards Humanity" and all the money raised on the evening went to help the Kosovo crisis.

Some background information

Wissam Boustany is an international flutist, originally from the Lebanon, who studied music in America and Europe and now lives in London.

He is the founder of the humanitarian group 'Towards Humanity', a charitable organisation whose aim is to promote peace through music.

This was Wissam's second visit to Hadleigh. In 1998, he played a charity concert with Donna Stoering. He enjoyed it so much here that he readily agreed to perform in another concert this year, and also offered to present the flute Masterclass and Primary school workshop at his own expense.

Wissam is an inspiring communicator as well as an incredible player. He was accompanied on the piano by Nigel Clayton in the Concert and Workshop, and Andrea King played for the Masterclass pupils.

The series of events was organised by a local music group, Music in Layham.
