PLEASE HELP US! On Sunday 26th December 2004 a tsunami took place in Asia. A lot of countries were hit by the tsunami and a lot of people were killed. The tsunami hit Indonesia, Thailand, India and lots of other places. It hit Indonesia first and just started to spread as the waves got bigger. Somehow the tsunami managed to hit Sri Lanka, which is an island fairly near. The death toll has gone up to 140,000 overall and is expected to rise. Adults were dragged out to sea by the waves. There have been 40 British people who hae been killed and there are 159 still missing. The youngest Britain they found dead was just a harmless baby. There are some people who were swept out to sea and we will never know who they were. The British alone have raised over 76m and hopefully this will rise. You can donate by phone, internet, local bank or post office. If there are any blankets or clothes please donate them to the Tsunami Appeal. SOMETHING SMALL CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE! There are people in Asia and Sri Lanka who have nothing to eat, nothing to drink, no clean water at all, no shelter and the only clothing is what they have on. I am sure there is something spare you can donate to the people in Indonesia and all the places that were hit by the tsunami.
