My culture and traditions
My family lives in England and my mum Lyn thinks it is important that customs and traditions continue for future generations. I asked her what she thought and this is what she said;

People need to know about their grass roots, where they come from, to give them a sense of belonging to something that is special and unique to their country and community.

We are lucky to have a long history attached to our country and with this a lot of ceremonies take place.
In London we have the State Opening of Parliament, which the Queen opens. we have the Lord Mayors parade, the Trooping of the Colour, Knighthoods and Honours, parades and sporting events.
Although lots of countries celebrate Christmas, New Year and Easter, we might all do so in different ways.

We now have a lot of people from different countries who live in England. They have their own customs and traditions that they practice, the Chinese New Year, the Notting Hill Carnival.

We musty learn to respect each others ways and learn from each other.

A lot of people from abroad visit Great Britain because of historical traditions and customs.
