My Home Town Klaipeda
My Home Town Klaipeda

Olga is 50 years old and shares their feelings and thoughts about the country in which they live.

My country
I live 300km away from the center of Europe in a small country called Lithuania. It is said somewhere, that this name the country received, because it rains a lot here and Lithuanian word for rain perhaps had a similar meaning in the past. Lithuania is separated into 4 lands: Dzukija, Zemaitija, Aukshtaitija, Suvalkija. I live in Zemaitija land in the East in a port-town Klaipeda.

Things I like about living in this country:
I live in a democratic country where we have freedom and right to get education and medical service.
Lithuanian citizens don't have to get visa to enter European countries.
National minorities have the same rights as the native people.

Some natural features of this country:
Lithuania is located near the Baltic sea. We have world-famous town-resorts such as: Palanga, Nida, Juodkrante where a lot of visitors come to have a rest on sandy beaches and to enjoy colorful countryside.
We have unique combination of sea and forest with clear coniferous air.
There is a town in the south of our country -Druskininkai. It is famous for its mineral springs. Druskininkai has a lot of sanatoriums for children and their parents.

Some things have changed since I was born
My country has become an independent one on the Soviet Union.
The nation has chosen its own president.
The country has got own currency.
Lithuania is a candidate to the NATO and European Union.

If you came to visit me, I would take you to 2 interesting places. Somewhere near where I live and somewhere in a different part of our country.
I would take my friend to the dolphinarium and the Sea museum-aquarium on an amazing excursion.

Next place it would be Vilnius - the capital of Lithuania. We could spend time there walking through the old streets of the center

What I could do to make this country a better place for everyone
I would like to make some creative projects for the town architecture or make a sculpture devoted to a woman awaiting her husband-a seaman from far away countries. I also would like to realize my dream - to paint an enormous picture on the wall of a high building.
