Inna is 45 years old and says:
My country
The country, in which I live is called, Lithuania. Lithuania was the last pagan state in Europe to be converted to Christianity. The city's name, where I live, is Klaipeda. It's a very old city, which was called "Memel" in the past and belonged to German people.
Klaipeda is also an attractive transit port, which connects western and eastern countries.
Things I like about living in this country:
The people in Lithuania are friendly and are always ready to help you if you're in a difficult situation. Many young people have higher education and a good knowledge of foreign languages.
Lithuania has a good geographic position.
My country owns beautiful flora and fauna. It has got many national parks and forest reserves.
Some natural features of this country:
It is the best thing when you have the opportunity to live near the Baltic Sea. In the summer you can go to the beach and have a good rest.
The river "DANE" flows through Klaipeda region. The river is known for its old Finnish ship-restaurant, where people can taste national food & drinks.
There is the Curonian lagoon. On the other side of it many tourists visit Aquarium & Dolphinarium, where there is a collection of aquatic creatures from little tiny fish to penguins and dolphins.
Some things have changed since I was born
The main thing that happened since I was born is the collapse of the Soviet Union's system and declaration of independence on 11 March, 1990. Lithuania was one of the first countries which advocated openness, democracy and sovereignty.
Besides, Lithuania has become the second country after Romania to join NATO's Partnership for Peace programme.
After the declaration of independence, the reconstruction of Klaipeda city has begun.
If you came to visit me, I would show you interesting places.
The first thing I would take him to see and to admire is the Baltic Sea. In summer there are a lot of people who enjoy their lives by being near the seaside and lying on the warm sand. In winter you can do other interesting things, such as walking near the seaside and jogging.
The next place I would show him the "HILL OF CROSSES" 12km north of Shiauliai. Some people say the first cross dates back to the Middle Ages. Visitors are welcome to add their own crosses, or just to walk around with their mouths wide open.
What I could do to make this country a better place for everyone
There are a lot of things to be changed in my country starting from political, economical and social system.
It would be a good idea if the government could reduce the number of crimes in the country and provide safety to every citizen of Lithuania.
In the future I hope that there will be more modern clubs and fashion design shops as well as entertainment for young people.
