People were waiting for Hurricane Isabel to come for a long time. The weathermen kept talking about it. No one knew where it would land. If I came to the beaches in Ocean City, there would be problems where I live. It didn't, however; it went hit North Carolina, but we did feel some of it.
It was a bad hurricane that extended its winds far from its center. The winds and rains came to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Luckily, all of my friends and family were safe. I expected the storm to be a lot worse than it was. My house was fine other than losing a few trees in my backyard. We got off school for two days, which was awesome. The rain and winds were very heavy, but considering what everyone thought it would be, it was not all that bad. There was one thing that I really enjoyed about the storm, and that was how it affected the ocean in Ocean City. The waves got a lot bigger, and they were awesome to surf!
Some of my relatives live in Dorchester County (north of here and on the Chesapeake Bay side of the peninsula) on a river, and they lost their yard, street, and even some cars. My grandmother also lost all of her goldfish out of her pond. I had to search for them in her yard, which was underwater. The storm was an interesting experience, and I'm grateful that no one was hurt.
